LANCASHIRE, England — Aug. 19, 2020 — AFTA Thought, an international drama based training company, has taken their live performances off the stage for the time being and onto the small screen for the first time in 25 years.

They specialise in workplace training using the power of live acting to deliver long lasting messages, with sessions covering subjects such as equality and diversity , domestic abuse awareness, modern day slavery and complaint handling.

But with the restrictions in place due to Covid-19 this has not been possible. Instead they have used their resources to conduct one company’s induction training remotely, meaning people have been able to be safely inducted into their new positions and start work even during the global pandemic. ‘From Room to Zoom’ by AFTA Thought has been first used by The Calico Group’s Learning and Development Team,  allowing people to begin their new careers from their homes across the North West.

The cohort of new starters were beginning employment in a variety of positions, ranging from domestic abuse support staff to customer service advisors. Working with their sister organisation, BadKamra, to script, film and edit the live scenarios, the filming itself was a challenge as that too had to be done under strict social distancing measures to protect the cast and crew.

By applying this creative approach, we managed to replicate much of the live experience while ensuring the safety of colleagues across the Group.”
