A physician from a hospital in England was so curious about how Ferrari pit crews were able to service a car efficiently; he had a race team come to watch their operations and recommend a three-step process, which reduced the hospital’s errors by more than 50%.

Although, leaders often cite curiosity as a critical quality they would like to see in their employees, little has been done to ensure that organizations receive developmental training to make them more curious. The book and CCI instrument explore the four factors that can inhibit curiosity including Fear, Assumptions, Technology, and Innovation (FATE) and provide a plan for how to develop in these areas. Individuals and organizations can utilize these tools to create strategies that can improve their ability to be engaged, innovative, and productive.
