SEBASTOPOL, Ca., Nov. 13, 2014 – Tech publisher O’Reilly Media has acquired software-training provider Infinite Skills, a Canadian company that offers more than 375 training videos on a wide array of technology topics.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Infinite Skills founders Mike Morton and Andrew Sweeney and the staff of their Oakville, Ontario company are joining O’Reilly.
“The Infinite Skills team has built a really impressive business. Their project-based methodology is very much in synch with O’Reilly’s hands-on approach to learning,” Allen Noren, O’Reilly’s vice president for online and digital initiatives, said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see what we can produce together once they’re connected to O’Reilly’s deep editorial resources and talent network.”
Founded in 2007, Infinite Skills currently offers more than 375 video tutorials for Microsoft, Apple, Adobe and Autodesk products and other types of technology. It delivers training videos on DVD, digital download and iPad editions, and by subscription.
Video use is growing more than 50 percent annually on O’Reilly’s Safari service, an online platform for books and video training, the company said. Seven of O’Reilly’s current top 10 titles are videos.
