Appreciative inquiry is an organizational development method in which organizations focus on the positive aspects of their business to build upon and improve. As opposed to other models that focus primarily on how to improve poor performance or eliminate negative feedback, this method involves a process of questioning which areas or individuals within the organization are doing well and why.
Appreciative inquiry involves the following four processes:
- Discover: Involves identifying the areas or processes that work well within an organization.
- Dream: Involves brainstorming and visualizing which processes may work well in the future.
- Design: Involves prioritizing processes and planning how they should be implemented.
- Destiny: Involves the actual implementation of the selected processes.
