Good learning games are not entirely different than games for fun – but they’re not the same, either. The difference is in the design. In games for learning, the “fun” happens because the learner relates to the lesson through interaction. It’s all about the engagement. And while there are several ways to create engagement, these steps are essential:

  • Motivate learners to act in response to a challenge.
  • Give learners a safe space to take a risk and reward correct choices.
  • Ground learning in relatable context.
