“Conjunction Junction, what’s your function?” is a phrase recognized by many American adults. This phrase was part of an initiative to weave the educational program “Schoolhouse Rock” into children’s Saturday morning television entertainment. Because of these efforts, almost 40 years later, many adults can today recall what they learned about conjunctions. This approach to microlearning was effective because it incorporated key elements to capture the audience’s attention and be memorable.

For the same reasons, microlearning is an increasingly-used element of training and continuing education among organizations. What makes it different is how it offers a reconsideration of the traditional methods and mediums of training.
