Artificial intelligence (AI) can now support nearly every stage of instructional video creation, from scripting and visuals to narration, editing and translation. But wider access to these capabilities has created a new challenge for L&D teams: deciding where AI actually helps, where it’s still limited and where human judgment remains essential. This session looks at what AI can do well today, what is emerging next and what that means for instructional video workflows.

Drawing on research, real-world video workflows and hands-on experience with AI-assisted creation, Matt Pierce from Camtasia will share a practical way to decide when — and when not — to use AI. The session introduces an automate, augment or keep human framework that participants can use to evaluate where AI belongs in their own instructional video process.

Key Takeaways:

  • Identify practical uses of AI across the instructional video workflow, including where current capabilities are useful and where important limitations remain.
  • Apply an automate, augment or keep human framework to decide the appropriate level of AI involvement for common video creation tasks.
  • Evaluate AI-assisted video decisions through the lens of instructional quality, learner clarity and human judgment rather than efficiency alone.
