Using Camtasia’s new generative screencast workflow for AI-assisted instructional video creation, users can upload one or more screenshots to the chat to create a customizable storyboard, script and areas of onscreen focus within ChatGPT that goes to Camtasia Online for further refinement and sharing.
Built on Camtasia’s decades of expertise in Screentelligence®, the new AI-powered plugin analyzes the context of screenshots far beyond standard image recognition. Rather than just identifying what’s on the screen, it interprets interface elements such as buttons, menus and navigation patterns to understand the underlying workflow and generate easy-to-follow instructional content. To create a video with generative screencast using the Camtasia plugin, users:
- Select the Camtasia tool: Open ChatGPT, search for Camtasia under plugins and install it directly.
- Describe the tutorial and upload screenshots: Start a new prompt and type “@Camtasia” into any ChatGPT conversation. Describe the tutorial they want to create and add one or more screenshots of the application or workflow they want to demonstrate.
- Preview the storyboard and iterate: ChatGPT creates a storyboard with suggested scenes, narration and callout text that is fully customizable, including the generated voiceover, scene order and callouts or areas of onscreen focus. Users can request broader changes through a prompt or make them manually within the application.
- Generate and share the Camtasia project: Click “Generate Video” to open in Camtasia Online for any final edits, such as advanced transitions and animations, branding, annotations or additional audio support, including captions and voiceover choices, before sharing with others via a link.
