MOSMAN — March 1, 2026 — AI across the full 360 lifecycle, from feedback collection to interpretation and action.
Halo Feedback is rewriting the rules of competency assessment with two integrated AI solutions that span the entire 360 feedback journey. Adaptive 360 transforms static competency questions into a dynamic, real-time conversational experience. Virtual Coach then supports participants in interpreting and acting on their results, while equipping managers and coaches with their own AI agent to prepare for impactful debriefs.
Adaptive 360:
Takes a competency assessment and transforms the rating scale into a two-sided conversation with adaptive questions. Adaptive 360 asks a question, and then based on the participants answer can choose to do one of the following:
- Ask a follow up question, if the competency being tested has not been sufficiently evidenced
- Prompt for greater clarity
- Move on
This way Adaptive 360 can clarify meaning, offer greater context and ultimately deliver deeper insights.
Unlike open-ended chat systems, Adaptive 360 operates within Halo’s structured competency framework, providing a reasoning statement (a factual explanation of its recommendation) to explain and justify its rationale. Behaviours, not conversations, remain the unit of assessment.
The AI evaluates each response against four criteria:
- How specific and detailed the answer is
- Whether the meaning is clear or open to interpretation
- Which behavioural statements from the competency were addressed
- Whether the participant dodged or deflected the question
For example, a follow-up may be triggered because multiple peer raters identified risk in decision speed, or because feedback on strategic vision lacked concrete examples. The AI surfaces patterns: Halo’s structured engine governs scoring and safeguards consistency.
Adaptive 360 is armed with multi modal capabilities. Allowing participants to either type their responses, or use the speech icon for a more fluid, natural experience.
The result is a survey experience that feels human and responsive, without compromising consistency, fairness, or comparability. Participants answer only what is necessary, and organisations receive robust, defensible data they can trust.
Virtual Coach:
Supporting Adaptive360 and results interpretati0on is the 2026 edition of Viertual Coach. Designed to help participants interpret their results through clear breakdowns of competency scores, strengths and development areas, along with practical coaching guidance. It also supports Managers, Coaches, and HR professionals in preparing for debriefs, saving time and streamlining the process.
The new Virtual Coach introduces an upgraded experience with a suite of innovative features designed to empower users to ask meaningful questions, take action, and drive professional growth.
Virtual Coach goes far beyond traditional online reporting. It’s interactive, responsive, and conversational, enabling users to explore their feedback through natural dialogue.
Users can:
- Use the “Follow-Up: Ask Anything” feature to clarify or expand on competencies.
- Let “Coach Questions” lead the discussion, prompting reflection and encouraging new perspectives.
- Access personalised “Next Steps” to set goals, identify challenges, and build actionable plans.
- Activate “Guided Questions”, pre-set by administrators, to ensure focus on key competency areas.
- Integrate external articles, books, and resources to deepen understanding.
Virtual Coach is also uniquely positioned to support Managers and Coaches, with their own independent agent. Virtual Coach serves as an intelligent assistant that streamlines the process of delivering constructive and unbiased debriefs. It takes on the heavy lifting of interpreting individual reports, freeing up valuable time for what matters most: meaningful, face-to-face conversations. Virtual Coach can create a unique debrief guide to make sure you’re hitting the most relevant points and insights. Alternatively, Virtual Coach can provide a stand-in for those occasions where a 1:1 debrief is not feasible.
With Virtual Coach and Adaptive 360, Halo Feedback is not simply adding AI, it is embedding intelligence into every stage of the development journey. From insight generation to behavioural validation, these innovations empower organisations to move beyond feedback collection toward measurable growth.
At Halo, we believe AI should enhance the user experience without undermining assessment integrity. We are committed to using AI in a way that’s adaptive, explainable, and grounded in what competency assessment is designed to do.
