Featured Executive BadgeThe goal of the featured executive session is to provide CPTM participants the opportunity to interact with a learning and development (L&D) professional in the role to which they are aspiring and to speak to someone who has already been through the CPTM program. As a featured executive, you should prepare a brief overview of your career path that includes an explanation of your current role, critical steps or milestones in your career, and details about the challenges you’re facing in your current role or have faced in a previous role. A Q&A session will follow this overview.

Session Length: 1.25 hours: Spend 10-15 minutes describing your career journey and how you applied the CPTM concepts after the course. Leave the rest of the time for questions.

Format: Virtual through Zoom. You will need a webcam.

 Preparation:

  • We will set up a meeting prior to your first session to review the flow of the session.
  • We will provide a slide deck with pre-prepared discussion topics.

The session is meant to be fairly informal, so it should not require much preparation on your part.

What you will be covering during the session:

  • Introduce yourself and your role. Feel free to position your company as a leader in training management.
  • Discuss your path to where you are today; this should be an overview of your professional progression. The objective is for the learners to see how others have progressed through their careers in L&D.
  • Discuss your day-to-day job duties. For what are you responsible?
  • Discuss the expectations of your job and the expectations of any clients you may have.
  • Outline the biggest challenges you have in meeting your responsibilities. Keep in mind, the key themes of our program are: The importance of strategic alignment — alignment of learning solutions with corporate objectives, and the need to establish strong processes that align training efforts with organizational needs.
  • Discuss what keeps you up at night regarding your job.
  • Refer to your experience with your CPTM practicum.
  • Discuss the outcomes you saw on the job after completing the CPTM program and applying your learnings.
